Nikon's first half profit more than tripled as a result of demand for chipmaking equipment and digital cameras, Bloomberg reports. The manufacturer forecast profits of ¥3 billion ($28 billion) (based on ¥2.05 billion ($19 billion) last year) but blew that figure out of the water with a net income of ¥7.8 billion ($74 billion). Profit is due to demand for LCDs, chipmaking equipment and digital cameras, such as digital SLR the D70.

Bei der Umrechnung von Yen in US$ muss denen aber ein Rechenfehler unterlaufen sein. IMHO ist der Umrechnungsfaktor in der Größenordnung von ca. 100Yen/US$. Welche Zahlen stimmen nu - die Yen- oder die Dollarzahlen?

Ich tipp mal eher auf die Yen-Angaben. Rein von der Zahl her würds ja mit der Umrechnung stimmen, wenn man annimmt, dass 1 Dollar etwa 107 Yen sind. und 28 Milliarden Dollar Gewinn für nen Unternehmen wie Nikon scheint mir schon etwas zu hoch zu sein. 28 Millionen liegt da wohl schon realistischer.
